A Heritage

Yesterday, during my quiet time I read the following in my Beth Moore book, Praying God's Word.  It is my desire, although I so often fall short, to remember this.

"Father God, like Timothy's grandmother, Lois, and his mother, Eunice, help me to pass down a heritage of faith." (2 Tim. 1:5)

When I taught inner city school in Birmingham, I often said I prayed for patience in the morning and forgiveness on the way home.  I think being a mommy is like that.  Leaving a heritage doesn't stop after they leave the home either.  My mom still impacts my life for the Lord daily.  I see her serve others, love and serve my dad, cherish her friends, as well as adore and fervently pray her family. She truly is leaving our family a heritage of faith.

If you would, please pray for my mom this morning as she undergoes a knee replacement surgery.  She is in great health and is very active.  We are hopeful for a successful outcome.

We enjoyed a cookie cake I made (I will share the recipe later) last night with some great friends at our park near our home.  The kids had a wonderful time.  The grown ups managed a few conversations in between pushing people on the swings and trying to keep the little ones from torturing the kittens that came over to see us.

Andi, You my friend are a champion... you brought me dinner (which was WONDERFUL by the way) and managed to do all of this too... and the night before your mom's surgery! Wow! Thank you for serving our family. I'm sad I didn't get to see you and Sharri. There are times of the day that I tend to hit a wall and yesterday it was between 4:30 and 5:30... perhaps no naps from the girls is what did it! Anyway, I'll be lifting your mom up in prayer and what an amazing verse about leaving a heritage! I love it! Please keep us all posted on her recovery and let us know how to pray! Love you!

I didn't know that your sweet Mom had surgery!! You are BOTH leaving a great heritage. She was an anchor for my faith all through high school...with her ability to teach God's word and make it fun :) I have such dear memories of sitting around in yalls den with the smell of mini cheesecakes in the air, and God's word on my lap. What a comfort and mentor she was...and how I met my husband!
