Creme Brulee

Preheat oven to 350.
4 Cups heavy cream
2 tsp. vanilla
pinch salt
8 egg yolks
3/4 cup sugar
Heat the cream, vanilla, and salt
Combine the egg yolks and sugar
Mix hot cream and yolk mixture one cup at a time so as not to cook the egg mixture.
Pour into individual baking dishes.
Bake in wet bath (fill a couple of 9x13 glass pans with water to coat the bottowm of the dish.) at 350 for 1 hour 15 minutes.
Stand until cool. Chill 3 hours(can do overnight)
When ready to serve: Sprinkle sugar over the top of the brulee to cover.
I use a butane torch to burn the sugar on top, the boys think I am totally cool using fire in such a way. I have seen them at Ross Dress For Less Stores. If anyone else has seen one, let us all know. I use William Sonoma Creme Brulee Finely Ground Sugar. You can use regular sugar on top and burn with a torch or use brown sugar and broil it in the oven until sugar melts.

Try it out and let us know what you think!
~My friend, Sharri passed this recipe on to me. Thanks Sharri~

Me too! I have never heard the phrase "wet bath" and that alone makes me think this recipe is way out of my league!
My husband just asked why so many people are obsessed with this dessert. He's never had it so that's why he asked that question! :)

Oh how I LOVE Creme Brulee and so does my Mom. I've never tried to make it myself, but I'm gonna do it. Yes ma'am I am.

Hugs!
