I heard the song Safe In My Arms on midlandcitymusings.blogspot.com. Just click play on the side bar and you can listen to the song that speaks volumes. It has moved me to tears more than once today. Share with me your thoughts...
I find the song very powerful. I want to guard my 3 little guys with everything in my being against the cruelties in life. A lady sent me a note when my middle son, Luke was born. She wrote a prayer. It was the most meaningful baby gift I have ever been given. She wrote,
"...We pray that You would protect him and keep him safe from any unnecessary harm. We ask that You would redeem any hurts and hardships that he must face and use them for his good and for Your glory. We pray that you would equip him with Your Holy Spirit to be a mighty man of God."
This has become my prayer for all 3 of my boys.

What a powerful, powerful song! Thank you so much for sharing that. Oh, I thought back to when my boys were little, and all the things I thought were going to be theirs. All the best of everything and only blue-sky days, nothing to cause them any pain or unhappiness. How soon I learned that life just wasn't going to be that way for them...but, for a few minutes, in the midst of whatever was causing them hurt, they could run to my arms and be comforted and protected and strengthened to face what followed.
I really think that is what we as Moms should do. Not try to shield them from every hurt, but rather, teach them how to deal with situations that come their way. Give them strength from our arms and from our heart, and help them to be self sufficient. Teach them to lean when necessary, but stand strong when possible. And, always, always have open arms...no matter how old they get!

I love this song! And your sweet boys are precious!
I just love that song. Glad you like it too. Thanks for your thoughts on the pantry issue. Maybe one day I can get a system going. I hate that I am so wasteful at times. By the way, I enjoy reading your blog, too.
What a sweet post...and a powerful song! Tonja's last paragraph says my thoughts exactly.
Next time Tonja and I are getting together, we'll let you know. I'd love to get to meet you too.
Hugs!
Kat
Crying before 7AM. Thanks a lot Andi!!
I had just emailed Bill and told him how important our son Will is to me. I had just written "He is so important to me. I want to do even more for him. These years will pass by like lightning. I only have one chance to do this. Oh what an awesome responsibility. Only through Christ can I even attempt it."
My awesome husband replied with this:
“Take Heart”

“God’s grace means that I can rest assured that I’ll have everything I need to be what he wants me to be and to do what he wants me to do in the situation in which he’s placed me.
I’m no longer restricted to the limits of my own strength and wisdom. By his grace, I’ve a new identity and a new potential. I’m a child of God; the risen Christ now lives inside of me. I need no longer fear people or circumstances; I don’t have to feel weak in the face of suffering or temptation, because I no longer rest in the resources of my own ability. I’m in Christ and he’s in me.
This new identity gives me new potential as I face the realities of life in this bent and broken world. God’s grace gives me reason to ‘take heart.’”
—Paul David Tripp, “Psalm 27: Take Heart”
I pray that all that read this comment will be strengthened by the full knowledge of God's grace.
